Hello Blog Readers,
Well, we are officially "sold out". All of our 2009 foals have moved into new, fabulous homes. Relevo has recently been sold to a student of show jumper Judy Wise! Ellosette has settled well into her new home in Idaho, see our sold page for updates. We have reports that Roxy is fully settled and doing well at her new digs in Red Deer and Remus, way over in Manitoba, is growing like a weed (last we heard). We've updated the sold page with feedback from most of our clients on how their foals/prospects are doing.
We are gearing up for the breeding season, both Kosette and Tosti will be bred this month for May babies in 2011. Please see our 2011 expected foals for our mare and stallion pairings!
Our previous client, Maile De Goeij has decided to offer Kosette's 2008 foal Dunavar up for sale. He is listed under "client sales" on our for sale page. Dunavar is maturing into a VERY handsome boy who will make a great prospect for the amateur or professional rider!
Hopefully this rain will let up soon!
Until next time....Happy trails!

Hello Apex Blog Readers,
We are pleased to annouce that our super filly Ellosette is on her way shortly to Idaho to become a new dressage partner for our lucky client. We are extremely pleased about the match, Ella will be campaigned through the dressage levels and we have been promised oodles of updates as she does!! We originally wanted to keep this lovely girl, but decided we would much rather see her progress in sport! All the best with her Mich, I'm sure that you two are going to do well together
Relevo is going to be pretty lonely around the farm, having to hang out with these "old girls" instead of his young filly! Relevo is maturing into a lovely boy with ample substance, lovely bone and build. He will make a great partner for someone and is just waiting to meet that special somebody!!
Everything else around the farm is great. Sadly, we have no foals arriving this year. We got the news last week that Kosette slipped her Rubinus foal due for 2010. It will be nice to let the girls have a break anyhow, and us too.
Keep tuned for updates on our stellar previous foals. If you are looking for a quality KWPN horse, please check out Kosette's 2008 Freestyle gelding for sale on warmbloods-for-sale.com. Dunavar is offered for sale by his current owners for $15,000 US and is a super prospect!
Until next time - Happy trails!!

Hello Blog Readers,
We are almost ready to turn our horses out onto the pastures, which I'm sure will make all of them very happy indeed!
We only have two foals left from last year, Roxy (Rendezvous) recently left for her new home in Red Deer, AB. Relevo and Ellosette remain at the farm, they are growing nicely - both quite tall and excellent movers. I've neglected the marketing on Ella (Ellosette) just a little, I'd love to keep her for myself but I really should let her go to a performance home. I'm going to put up a couple ads for her now, you may see her advertised shortly! Ella has the BEST personality of our foal crop from 2009, she is true pocket pony.
You may notice we've drastically reduced our mare herd this past year, we have only two KWPN broodmares now and we are happy with that number. With working full time and trying to get 5 mares to the vet during breeding season, it just was not working out for the job that actually pays the bills!!
We are doing our spring clean up around the farm, getting ready for the coming foaling season and working with the two remaining foals. Feel free to stop by the farm for a tour anytime!
Until next time! Happy Trails :-)
Cheers - Martina

Hello Apex Blog Readers,
We are MELTING, finally!! Our weather has been excellent over the past month, unseasonably good, and the horses are starting to shed!
I believe that Kosette enjoys getting her gray hairs all over any coat that I happen to be wearing, I always come into the house white. She managed to get my work coat covered in hair this morning as I was administering her Prodigy vaccine. She is growing rather wide these days, and the baby looks to be developing nicely - judging by her ever expanding tummy! I must admit that I'm excited about meeting this new Rubinus foal.
The weanlings are looking great, and I can't believe they are coming yearlings now! The time just seems to disappear around here. Darcy's sister bought a little paint colt, who is sharing a paddock with the weaners, and it is funny to see just how BIG these warmblood foals are in comparison. The poor little paint colt is a midget!
We have Roxy (Rendexvous), Rooster (Relevo) and Ella remaining with us. I would like to keep Ella for myself, but I would also like to see her shown as much as possible. Thus at the moment, she is for sale. We have an immense amount of interest in the foals, I'm just trying to organize a time to take some video of them at the indoor. I should have video shortly of each foal at the W/T & C.
We have just one foal due to make his or her appearance at the end of June/ start of July! It will be nice not to have to divide our time, this will be the most handled foal around :-) We look foward to sharing photos of this little one later this year, healthy and happy.
If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call or send us off an e-mail.
Cheers - Martina

Hello Apex Blog Readers!
Well, our weather has been mighty chilly around here as of late! I think we made it to the -40 mark several times now already....burrrrr. The horses, as you can imagine, are quite hairy but seem content to hide from the elements in their shelters, with the endless hay we are forking!
As you can see by the blog title, we've made some changes here at Apex Warmbloods. We have decided to specialize our breeding program to only KWPN horses. This change allows us to attend the same inspection with all our mares and foals in the future, making it much easier to get everyone where they need to be! We have sadly parted with our Canadian Warmblood mares; Renaissance, Reveal and Romantic. We are happy to report that they all have fantastic homes, and their new owners plan to begin them all in sport careers! It was sad to see some of our "girls" move on, but they have an opportunity now to come along as riding horses and make their mark in the show world. We look forward to updates from their new owners in the coming year.
Going forward, we are currently searching for a new KWPN mare or a mare we can inspect KWPN. We have several prospects on the horizon, but will take our time to find the perfect girl to join our group. As a result of our recent changes, we have only one foal expected to make an arrival this spring. Kosette's foal by Rubinus (Rubinstein x Montevideo) should arrive around the 1st of July, 2010. It is possible that we may end up with another foal, should we purchase a new girl in foal for the coming year. We have only two foals remaining for sale from the 2009 year, both Rendezvous and Relevo are turning into fantastic prospects. If you are searching for your future mount, these two are worth your consideration - they come with the exceptional bloodlines and amateur friendly minds provided by their sire Radjah Z.
Another change on the horizon is our coming move in the spring of 2010, our house (fingers crossed) should be ready by July at the latest. We are very excited to move as we've been able to set everything up to our taste from scratch (we bought bare land).
We wish you all the best moving forward in 2010, and until next time....Happy Trails!
Cheers,
Martina East

Hello Apex Blog Readers,
The time of year for snow, holiday spirit and rounding broodmares is once again upon us. The horses are settling in for the winter, and the weanlings are starting to look like yearlings more as each day passes.
After careful consideration, we have decided to keep our filly Ellosette (Sagnol x Kosette) as a future Apex Broodmare. She has exceeded our expectations in terms of our breeding goal for her, and we couldn't be happier that she will remain here. Thus, we have only two foals offered for sale at this time. Both Rendezvous and Relevo are sired by International calibre producer Radjah Z, they are both excellent candidates for the jumper or hunter rings! Nothing new happening around the farm, we are just enjoy the comforts of the season and the time we spend with the animals.
Our best wishes go out to you and your families over the holidays. Enjoy the season, stay warm and remember to check back in the spring to watch as our new foals make their first appearances.
Best Wishes,
Cheers - Martina & Darcy East

Hello Apex Blog Readers,
We'll things are turning orange and yellow around the farm quickly, and we have already encountered our first, second, third and fourth snow falls. I always think back around this time and wonder where the year went? It seems like just yesterday that our foals were arriving and now they are being weaned and moved to their new homes. We are busy getting things organized for our move this spring, the horses have happily been enjoying the new property but I'd like to be there too!
Remus APW has been sold to a new home in Manitoba, I believe his future to be bright with Pony Club and jumping on the horizon. Congratulations to Molly and Kristine, best of luck down the road with your new handsome boy. We have Roxy, Relevo and Ella left from our 2009 crop. In the past few weeks, we've had an immense interest in the foals and time will tell shortly who is staying and leaving us. Roxy has turned into a lovely hunter/jumper prospect. She has all the right stuff and the longest legs to go with it. She is very elegant in build, but solid in bone, and she is a great mover. Relevo, barn name Rooster, is more solid in build, with a super neck to shoulder combo and a great canter. He is very flashy and commands the attention of everyone who visits the farm, you can't help but notice him! Last but not least, Ellosette is the splitting image of her sire Sagnol in every way. She moves just like him (see our recent photos)! We were lucky enough to get some professional photos taken of her, and I'm pleased to see they reflect her quality. We've got several shots with all her feet off the ground, and one with both her and her dam airborne. I think that I'll blow up that photo for the house, I just love it.

We are busy winterizing everything now, and hauling hay to our winter feeding areas. We have no shows planned during the winter season, and plan to "take it easy". Next year will be a busy one for sure!!
As is normal, please call us if you are in the area....we love to show off the horses! Please check back to the blog as I will be updating it regularily.
Until next time, Happy Trails!

Hello Apex Blog Readers,
Well, we are officially moving our breeding operation. In June, we purchased a 70 acre parcel of land, relatively close to our current property. We are now building a new facility on our land, and hope to move ourselves and the horses by Novemeber (fingers crossed all goes well with the build). We are going to be in transition for a period of time, and have decided to offer a few of our mares for sale in foal to quality stallions. Please e-mail for additional details.
All the foals are maturing quickly and we are very pleased with the 2009 crop. Relevo, Mya's colt, is a very flashy boy who is going to turn heads in any discipline down the road. While our breeding plans were to produce a jumper foal, Relevo is a lovely mover and would likely fit the bill for an amateur dressage rider as well. We've got a short video of him available, and we will be taking additional photos of all the foal over the next few days. Remus is proving to be a lovely foal, who seems to attract a lot of attention from visitors at the farm who love his unique markings and personality. Ellosette is an identical copy of her father Sagnol, and we are thinking about keeping her for a future riding mount and broodmare. She has spectacular movement, and seems to use her hind end to a degree I've never seen in one of our dressage foals before. She also routinely piaffes in the pasture just for the heck of things! Kosette was recently at the clinic for breeding, and the vet student came over to tell us how many people had complimented us on the filly, which was nice to hear. She'll be going to the North Alberta Foal Futurity in September held at Amberlea Meadows, and we are excited to take her out. Rendezvous is looking very flashy, and will be a stunning jumper prospect with added value as a future broodmare. I don't think we could ask for anything different this year, each foal is special in their own unique way.
If you would like any information on our sale horses, future breedings, foals or program, please feel free to call, e-mail or come visit us anytime. We are happy to show off any of the horses, and it is always nice to meet new horse friends!
Until Next Time,
Happy Trails :-)

Hello Apex Blog Readers,
It has been a great week around the farm with two stellar foals born between Saturday and Wednesday. We are now only awaiting the arrival of Kosette's Sagnol foal, who should be coming in early June.
At 3:35am Saturday May 23rd, Renaissance (Mya) produced a lovely Radjah Z colt. We are calling his Rooster for short, as he woke the entire family up during his arrival. We couldn't be more thrilled with him, he is very heavily stamped by his sire, Radjah Z, and he has the most amazing personality. Please see our foal page for pictures. Mya is an exceptional mother, we couldn't ask for a better maiden mare and she had a safe, fast delivery.
At 10:00am Wednesday May 27th, Ribbon produced a very unique Ruckus Time colt. We are calling him Remus! He is truly unique, especially for a Ruckus Time foal, as he is covered in chrome! He has a large, wide blaze, two socks and two partial socks each with an inverted "V" of colour coming up from the coronet band. He is a very tall foal, already taller than Rooster and very elegant in build. Please see our foal page for additional info and photos. Ribbon foaled quickly, and I got out in time to pull the sac away from Remus! This is her third foal, and she has handled this like a seasoned pro. After foaling, she promptly went back to eating while Remus learned to stand and nurse.
Kosette is looking healthy, happy and round these days. She is out with Tosti (Jirtuose) in our small pasture until a little closer to her due date. Kosette and Tosti are inseparable, and Tosti has decided that although she is barren this year....she'll produce some milk as well. We should really post a few pictures of them, they eat from the same grain bucket, drink at the same time and eat nose to nose. We are anxiously awaiting Kosette's foal, and will post the minute he or she arrives.
Until next time, Happy Trails!

Howdy Blog Readers!
Our Radjah Z daughter, Ribbon is 335 days in foal today with an estimated due date of May 15th. She is progressing nicely, the foal hasn't dropped yet but she is starting to bag up. We anticipate the arrival of her foal in approx one week, perhaps two weeks at the most. We will, of course, update the website when her foal arrives!
All the mares at the farm are nearing or over the 300 day mark, and we should have all the foals arrived by the end of June.
Our farm has expanded this month as well. We've just purchased 70 additional acres to house our expanding operation! The mare and foal pairs have a new 30 acre pasture for turn out, in addition to our current set up. We really like to have our foals grow up with ample space to romp! We are thrilled to have ample hay fields as well now, and we should be able to produce all of our own hay from this year foward. There are exciting changes being made around the farm as well!
Planned Events:
I will publish a calendar with firm dates, times and locations once they are known!
Until next time, Happy Tails!
